Hyderabad: BRS MLA D. Sudheer Reddy staged a unique protest inside the Assembly premises on Thursday, donning an attire fashioned from a mosquito net to draw attention to the escalating mosquito problem in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
He expressed his criticism of the government for its inadequacy in addressing this pressing issue and called for immediate actions to safeguard the people from potential diseases. The MLA attempted to hold a press conference in the Assembly Media Hall, accompanied by a fogging machine and mosquito nets to reinforce his message. However, Assembly marshals intervened and confiscated the equipment, citing a lack of official permission. Nevertheless, the MLA proceeded with the briefing while wearing the mosquito net attire.
During the event, Sudheer Reddy, representative of the LB Nagar Assembly constituency, asserted that the government had failed to implement sufficient measures to manage mosquito infestations, resulting in an increase in vector-borne diseases such as dengue and malaria.
He articulated that this situation not only jeopardises public health but also tarnishes the reputation of Hyderabad, prompting concern among both residents and visitors.
He highlighted that routine anti-mosquito measures previously executed by the former BRS administration were no longer being effectively undertaken.
